Form and Size: A small, spreading tree, 4-8m high

Distribution: Coastal and highland areas of eastern Australia from Cape York Peninsula to Tasmania

Leaves: There are no true leaves; leaves are reduced to 6-8 tiny leaf-teeth on the nodes of branchlets

Bark: Dark, deeply furrowed on older trees

Flowers: Male in terminal spikes, 1.5-2.5cm long; female on older wood

Flowering Period: March to May

Fruit: Cones, cylindrical, 2-2.5cm long, with rounded, blunt segments

Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from seed
A fast growing tree which will not tolerate poor drainage
